University Relevant Events
This event features webinars on emerging trends in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for entrepreneurship and innovation: educational and industrial perspectives. The event comprises three main tracks and a panel discussion.
The tracks are digital transformation and entrepreneurship, entrepreneurship in education, and innovation and Technology. The event is part of the project ELEGANT that aims at enhancing teaching and learning and graduate employability through university-enterprise cooperation.
Entrepreneurial ecosystem for ICT education: design thinking, business modeling, didactic innovation, communication, creative technologies, entrepreneurship, start-up, entrepreneurship in ICT, Internet & New Media Entrepreneurship.
Entrepreneurship in ICT Curriculum: Computational Thinking, Entrepreneurship Thinking, Innovation, Software Entrepreneurship, course and program assessment.
Capstone Design courses. Entrepreneurship and technology: Robotics and Machines, 3D Printing. Process control. Vehicular technologies, mobile technologies. Technological Challenges of the Internet of Things.
The faculty of Business administration Tripoli Campus at Beirut Arab University organized "Marketing Day " in which 11 Video projects was presented by 50 students. During this activity, the faculty of business students tried to prove their marketing skills by using the marketing tools and concepts.

The Dean of the Students’ Affairs Prof. Sobhi Abou Chahine participated in the Summit that was held in Cairo in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology at the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Innovation Summit Institution.
The Summit discussed the right methods of the digital transformation and the role of Artificial Intelligence in the industry of making decisions aligned with the investment in the fields of Information Technology, Innovated Communications and Intelligent Universities.
The President of Beirut Arab University Prof. Amr Galal El Adawi heads a delegate consists of the Secretary General Dr. Omar Houri and Dean of Students’ Affairs Prof. Sobhi Abou Chahine attending the MENA Innovation 2019 held at Muscat- Oman under the Official Patronage of the Minister of Higher Education H.E. Dr. Rawya Saud Albusaidi.
This forum includes Omani ministerial participation from the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of Communications & multiple government stakeholders.
This high-level meetings based Forum will bring together ministers, senior government officials, universities, school consortia, financiers, solution providers, and civil society stakeholders from across the Middle East & North Africa to engage with leading industry operators and solution providers.
MENA Innovation 2019 includes 19 regional ministers and 170 government officials engaged with over 250 education & ICT industry leaders at the inaugural MENA Innovation.
BAU President will be a Speaker in his Paper through the Panel Session entitled “Transformation through Critical Thinking in Education & Scientific Research”.
The Faculty of Business Administration at Beirut Arab University has opened the Entrepreneurship Center “Al Mashghal – The Hub” funded by the Italian organization COSV.
It aims to increase the job opportunities in the region among the youth through building their capabilities in the field of entrepreneurship with focusing on social entrepreneurship and innovation.
The center shall enhance the presence of an environment favorable for an alternative comprehensive socioeconomic development in the region by embracing the ideas of university students and the students of vocational training institutions and the local community.
In addition, Al Mashghal shall work on developing, adopting and help in financing the projects so that they will develop as sustainable social projects that contribute in enhancing the business sector in the region.
The technically equipped “Al Mashghal – The Hub” launched a competition for the youth in the region to present applicable innovative ideas within the field of social entrepreneurship.
Every team of the first 22 ideas shall receive 3000 euros in cash and shall be provided a two-month mentoring and training support by specialists to help them achieve their ideas so they will be real, sustainable and successful projects.
The International Association of Universities IAU has launched a Global Cluster on Higher Education and Research for Sustainable Development (HSED) to advocate for the Key Role that higher education institutions play in achieving agenda 2030.
The global endeavour directly engages universities in addressing all 17 sustainable development goals SDGs. Beirut Arab University was selected to represent and lead SDG 9 Industry, innovation and infrastructure that aims mainly to promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization, enhance scientific research, and support economic development and human well-being, with a focus on affordable and equitable access for all.
The Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Design & Built Environment Professor Ibtihal El- Bastawissi is the BAU Institutional Coordinator at the IAU Global Higher Education Cluster. The IAU HESD Cluster consists of 16 lead universities, one for each SDG; IAU leads the work on SDG 17 on global partnerships.
The lead universities, which are based in all world regions, will work with ‘satellite’ universities to advance a particular SDG, all the while ensuring synergies among all goals.
The ASCE student chapter, Tripoli Branch, carried out a scientific trip to the precast concrete industry “NGM - Blocks” located in Anfeh city on Friday 15/03/2019.
NGM Blocks is a fully automated concrete block manufacturing plant for the production of cement material units such as roofing hourdis, hollow, semi & solid blocks, thermally insulated blocks as well as paving and interlocking products, water channels, gutters, planters and kerbstones structures.
This visit allowed students to see in a practical way the different stages of concrete product manufacturing starting from the preparation of the raw materials to the cure of the final product.

The project aims to enhance university enterprise cooperation in Jordan and Lebanon in order to improve teaching and learning in partner universities, enhance the employability of graduates and create conditions for applied research cooperation and knowledge transfer between partner universities and enterprises. The general objectives of the project are:
To stimulate the development of an enterprise cooperation culture at partner universities.
To promote the sharing of good practice for establishing university-based Enterprise Liaison Offices, and developing new forms of industry-oriented education in a number of Jordanian and Lebanese Universities.
To improve the ICT curricula and upgrade the capacities of academic and technical staff of partner universities. To develop a coherent information and communication strategy for the University communities within the local business environment.
To develop a programme-strategy to support students to develop their master theses and internships with enterprises to enhance their employability.

In line with Lebanon Vision 2021 to be among the top 10 countries in the world by the Golden Jubilee of the Union in 2021, LEBANON has taken many steps and strides to promote and encourage innovation.
Most notable is the launch of the Innovation Strategy in 2014 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashed Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of LEBANON and Ruler of Dubai.
To align with national priorities and the 2030 Agenda, the Ministry of Economy is continuously working on fostering an environment that encourages sustained economic activity in LEBANON.
This is done through the enactment of legislations that encourage investments, supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs), protecting consumer rights and intellectual Property as well as fulfilling environmental and social requirements whilst pursuing economic growth.
Policies and Initiatives
Launch of the ‘Innovative Guide for Companies in LEBANON in cooperation with the National Research Council (NRC) to highlight the Ministry’s role in implementing LEBANON National Innovation Strategy.
Launch of the ‘Annual Corporate Social Responsibility National Index’ (2017) to track companies in LEBANON based on their contributions to CSR initiatives.
Issuance of the Anti-dumping Law (2017) which aims to protect domestic products from imports being sold for less than what is considered fair market value.
